Think House are a youth marketing company and for their Newsletter it was important to have the feel of a traditional Broad Sheet Newspaper while also looking dynamic.
To Achieve the newsprint effect for the paper we used 100% recycled paper stocks 200gsm Shiro echo Bright White for the cover 120gsm Shiro echo Bright White for the insides.
Using Fluorescent Inks throughout, we like to run as heavy as possible throughout the run on the newsletter to achieve the most eye catching affect.
The recycled paper soaks up the ink a lot more than a coated sheet so we needed to run it heavier than usual to get the vibrancy we feel the artwork requires. We decided to hand collate the sections prior to binding, then the newsletters where then knocked up to the head and lay and pad glued together at the head, so when they passed threw the singer sewing machine they would be kept together.
We sourced a Bright orange thread to match the Fluorescent Orange on the cover with 0.50 thickness which would be strong enough to go through the book blocks. The Newsletters were then sewed, folded and we trimmed each book individually
Judges Commented: ‘The brightness of the fluro was a testament to the craftsmanship of the printer given the nature of the recycled stock, it really helped bring the piece alive.’
